Inspired by the organized chaos on the rooftops of Cairo, the city of my ancestors, I developed a concept for a mobile rooftop hostel in Amsterdam. Depending on where there is a building crane, the hostel unit, fit for either 2, 4 or 8 persons, can be lifted up on any flat rooftop near the crane. See more
Urban planning nowadays means finding a social programme for existing spaces. An attempt to save the endangered VU Hortus ended up in a future vision for de Zuid-As. This project was exhibited at Kunstvlaai 2012 and Vu Hortus june, 2013. See more

In my former area, I took the average of the neighbourhood (500 houses, I took every 10th house). Before I actually rang their doorbell, I photographed their name and found information about them online. Then I mixed and matched the neighbours that have common interests (private or professional). An exhibition of the possibilities for potential friends or collaborations in the local laundry space and then personally invited each neighbour to the exhibition by ringing the doorbell.Read more
